Your Madhab may affect certain rulings. Consult an Islamic scholar for specific guidance.
Step 3 of 8

๐Ÿ•Œ Funeral & Burial Instructions

Specify how you wish to be handled after death according to Islamic rites (Ahkam al-Janaiz).

Islamic Burial Rights Islamic law prescribes: Ghusl (ritual washing), Kafan (shrouding in white cloth), Salatul Janazah (funeral prayer), and burial facing the Qibla. Cremation is strictly prohibited in Islam.
โœ… Body washed (Ghusl) according to Sunnah โœ… Body shrouded in white Kafan (3 sheets for male, 5 for female) โœ… Salatul Janazah (funeral prayer) to be performed โœ… Burial on right side facing Qibla (direction of Mecca) โœ… Burial to take place as soon as possible โŒ No cremation under any circumstances โŒ No embalming unless legally required โŒ No autopsy unless legally required
Step 4 of 8

๐Ÿ’ฐ Debts & Religious Obligations

List all debts and obligations to be settled from the estate before inheritance is distributed.

โš–๏ธ Islamic Priority Order for Estate Settlement
  1. Funeral & burial expenses
  2. Religious debts (Zakat, Hajj, Kaffarah, Fidyah)
  3. Worldly debts (loans, mortgages, credit)
  4. Wasiyyah (charitable bequests โ€” max 1/3 of remainder)
  5. Inheritance to heirs per Fara'id

Worldly Debts

Religious Obligations

Step 5 of 8

๐Ÿ“œ Charitable Bequests (Wasiyyah)

Allocate up to one-third (1/3) of your estate to charitable or non-heir beneficiaries.

๐Ÿ“š The 1/3 Rule (Hadith โ€“ Bukhari & Muslim) The Prophet ๏ทบ told Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas: "One-third, and one-third is much. It is better for you to leave your heirs wealthy than to leave them poor, begging from others."
A Wasiyyah must NOT exceed 1/3 of the net estate after debts. No Wasiyyah may be made in favour of a legal heir unless all other heirs consent.
After deducting funeral expenses & debts. Used for guidance only.

Bequests (Wasiyyah)

Step 6 of 8

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Legal Heirs (Waratha)

๐Ÿ“– Fara'id โ€” Divine Inheritance Law Quranic inheritance shares (Surah An-Nisa 4:11-12) are fixed and cannot be altered by any Will. This section is for declaration only. For exact calculations, use the Islamic Inheritance Calculator.
