☪️ Declaration of Faith

Confirm your Shahada and Islamic jurisprudence framework for your Will.

📖 Hadith on Writing a Will The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "It is not permissible for any Muslim who has something to bequeath to sleep two nights without having his last Will and testament written and kept ready with him." (Bukhari & Muslim)
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّداً رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
"I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad ﷺ is the messenger of Allah."

This declaration will be included at the beginning of your Will document.

Your Madhab may affect certain rulings. Consult an Islamic scholar for specific guidance.
Step 3 of 8

🕌 Funeral & Burial Instructions

Specify how you wish to be handled after death according to Islamic rites (Ahkam al-Janaiz).

Islamic Burial Rights Islamic law prescribes: Ghusl (ritual washing), Kafan (shrouding in white cloth), Salatul Janazah (funeral prayer), and burial facing the Qibla. Cremation is strictly prohibited in Islam.
✅ Body washed (Ghusl) according to Sunnah ✅ Body shrouded in white Kafan (3 sheets for male, 5 for female) ✅ Salatul Janazah (funeral prayer) to be performed ✅ Burial on right side facing Qibla (direction of Mecca) ✅ Burial to take place as soon as possible ❌ No cremation under any circumstances ❌ No embalming unless legally required ❌ No autopsy unless legally required
Step 4 of 8

💰 Debts & Religious Obligations

List all debts and obligations to be settled from the estate before inheritance is distributed.

⚖️ Islamic Priority Order for Estate Settlement
  1. Funeral & burial expenses
  2. Religious debts (Zakat, Hajj, Kaffarah, Fidyah)
  3. Worldly debts (loans, mortgages, credit)
  4. Wasiyyah (charitable bequests — max 1/3 of remainder)
  5. Inheritance to heirs per Fara'id

Religious Obligations

Step 5 of 8

📜 Charitable Bequests (Wasiyyah)

Allocate up to one-third (1/3) of your estate to charitable or non-heir beneficiaries.

📚 The 1/3 Rule (Hadith – Bukhari & Muslim) The Prophet ﷺ told Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas: "One-third, and one-third is much. It is better for you to leave your heirs wealthy than to leave them poor, begging from others."
A Wasiyyah must NOT exceed 1/3 of the net estate after debts. No Wasiyyah may be made in favour of a legal heir unless all other heirs consent.
After deducting funeral expenses & debts. Used for guidance only.

Bequests (Wasiyyah)

Step 6 of 8

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Legal Heirs (Waratha)

Declare your known heirs. Their shares are fixed by Allah's law (Fara'id) — not by this document.

📖 Fara'id — Divine Inheritance Law Quranic inheritance shares (Surah An-Nisa 4:11-12) are fixed and cannot be altered by any Will. This section is for declaration only. For exact calculations, use the Islamic Inheritance Calculator.

How to Write an Islamic Will (Wasiyyah)

A wasiyyah is a Muslim's written instruction for what happens after death. The Prophet ﷺ urged believers to keep their will written and ready. This generator walks you through the sections a Shariah-aware will normally contains.

What an Islamic will covers

  • Funeral and burial: ghusl, kafan, Salatul Janazah, burial facing the Qibla.
  • Debts and religious obligations: unpaid zakat, missed fasts, Hajj, and loans are settled first.
  • Wasiyyah: charitable bequests to non-heirs, capped at one-third of the net estate.
  • Heirs: shares are fixed by Surah An-Nisa (4:11-12); a will cannot change them. Calculate exact shares with our Islamic Inheritance Calculator.
  • Executor (Wasi) and witnesses: trusted people to carry out and attest the will.

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave more than one-third in my will?

No. A bequest beyond one-third of the net estate is not permitted unless all heirs consent after your death.

Can I leave a bequest to an heir?

Generally no. Heirs receive their fixed Quranic shares, and a bequest to an heir requires the consent of the other heirs.

Do I need witnesses?

Two adult, trustworthy witnesses who are not beneficiaries are strongly recommended, and local law may require them.

Is this will legally valid in my country?

Requirements differ by country and state. Have the document checked by a licensed lawyer and a qualified scholar before relying on it.

Is my information stored?

No. Everything is processed in your browser and the PDF is created on your device.
