Best Noorani Qaida Course to Learn Quran Basics & Tajweed

Most of us were handed a Quran before anyone properly taught us how to read it. That's what the Noorani Qaida fixes. We go back to the letters, the sounds, the joining — the part that usually gets skipped — one student and one teacher at a time, over video call, under the guidance of Mufti Muhammad Siddique Tahiri.

What is Noorani Qaida

The Step Most People Skip

Noorani Qaida is the small booklet that's been used for generations to teach beginners how to actually read the Quran — not just recognise it, read it. Before anyone opens a Surah, they go through this: the shape of each Arabic letter, where the sound comes from in the mouth (makharij), the vowel marks, and how letters change once they're joined to each other.

A lot of us never went through this properly. We picked things up by listening, copying, guessing at sounds we weren't sure about — and those small habits stick. This course is us going back and doing that part right, over video call, with a teacher who corrects you letter by letter rather than moving on until it's actually correct.

If you're planning to start Hifz, move into Nazra reading, or eventually take our Online Quran Tajweed Course, this is where that has to begin. It's not a formality — the rest genuinely depends on it.

Why It's Worth Doing Properly
  • 01

Wrong habits are hard to undo later

If a letter or sound is learned incorrectly at the start, it tends to stay that way for years unless someone catches it early — that's what this course is for.

  • 02

Tajweed doesn't work without this first

Every Tajweed rule assumes you already know the letters and where each sound comes from. Skip this, and Tajweed becomes memorising rules you can't really apply.

  • 03

    Genuinely fine for absolute beginners

We mean it when we say no prior Arabic is needed. Plenty of our students, both kids and adults, start not knowing a single letter.

  • 04

You only need to learn it once

Once this is solid, you can pick up any Quranic text on your own for the rest of your life — no one has to read it to you.

Course Curriculum

The Four Levels, in Order

We don't move a student ahead until a level is actually solid — this isn't a fixed calendar, it's a checklist of things you need to genuinely know.

Level 1 ا ب ت

The Alphabet & Makharij

All 29 letters, on their own and joined, and — more importantly — where each sound is actually produced in the mouth and throat.

Level 2 اَ اِ اُ

Harakaat, the Vowel Marks

Fatha, kasra, damma, tanween, sukoon — the marks that tell you how a letter is actually pronounced, not just what it looks like.

Level 3 مَدّ

Joining Letters & Madd

How letters change shape once they connect, plus the rules for stretching a sound the right length instead of guessing.

Level 4 تَجوید

Where Tajweed Begins

Noon Sakinah, Meem Sakinah, Qalqalah, Ghunnah — the basic rules that get you ready for our Tajweed course, not just Qaida reading.

Who Is This For

Honestly, Most People

Kids, from around age 5

Our teachers work with young children every day and know how to keep a lesson going without losing them — short exercises, plenty of repetition, no pressure.

Adults starting from scratch

A good number of our adult students have never read a word of Arabic before their first class. There's no age limit on this — you're not behind, you're just starting.

Anyone who didn't grow up speaking Arabic

Whether Urdu, English, or something else is your first language, lessons don't assume you already know Arabic sounds or grammar — we start from zero.

How We Actually Teach It

What a Class Here Looks Like

Nothing revolutionary — just the old method, taught properly, over a video call instead of in person.

Just you and the teacher

No group classes here. It's one student per session, so the teacher actually hears every mistake and corrects it before it becomes a habit.

Timing that fits your day

We work around your timezone and routine, and if a class gets missed, it gets made up rather than just dropped.

Reviewed by a Hanafi scholar

Everything we teach is checked against the Hanafi standard by Mufti Muhammad Siddique Tahiri — this isn't left to individual teachers to interpret.

You know where you stand

Parents and adult students get told plainly what's been covered and what still needs more practice — no vague "doing well" updates.

You pick the teacher

Tell us if you'd prefer a male or female teacher and we'll match accordingly — every teacher is trained specifically in how to teach Qaida.

A certificate at the end

Finish all four levels and you get a certificate, plus a clear sense of whether you're ready for Nazra, Hifz, or the Tajweed course next.

Course Structure

What a Week Actually Looks Like

20–30 min

Each class

Long enough to make progress, short enough that a 6-year-old — or a tired adult after work — can stay focused for it.

2–5 a week

How often you meet

You pick the frequency. More classes a week naturally means moving through the levels faster, but it's entirely up to you.

No fixed date

Moving to the next level

We don't push students ahead to hit a schedule. If a level needs another two weeks, it gets another two weeks.

Your Next Step

Once the Qaida Is Solid, Tajweed Is Next

The Noorani Qaida gets you reading the letters correctly. Our Online Quran Tajweed Course takes it further — the rules that turn correct reading into proper, measured recitation, taught the same one-on-one way with a teacher who corrects you as you go.

Mufti Muhammad Siddique Tahiri

The course and how it's taught aren't just put together in-house — Mufti Muhammad Siddique Tahiri of Aleemiyah Institute reviews the content and the teaching approach, so what's taught here holds up to the Hanafi standard rather than one teacher's personal method.

Questions People Actually Ask

Before You Book a Class

No — and that's the whole point of this course. We start from the very first letter, so if you can't read a single word of Arabic right now, that's completely fine.

Around 5 and up works well for children, but honestly there's no upper limit — we have adult students of every age. Since it's one-on-one, the teacher adjusts to the student, not the other way around.

It really depends on the student — their age, how many classes a week, and how consistent they are. As a rough guide, most students get through all four levels in a few months of regular classes.

Most students move into Nazra to build reading fluency, start our Tajweed Course to go deeper into recitation rules, or begin Hifz if memorisation is the goal. We'll talk you through which makes sense.

Yes, just mention it when you book your trial class and we'll match you accordingly.

Yes. It's a real class — the teacher gets a sense of your current level, you get a sense of whether our teaching style works for you, and there's no obligation to continue after it.
